About the Event

Do you have a teen that's picky or doesn't like to eat their veggies? Or do you have an adventurous eater that likes to try all sorts of new foods? Either way we are going to cover a lot of ground in this 3 day workshop.

The workshop will begin with 1 hour of instruction followed by communal cooking and eating. We will also make snacks and treats with some homemade ice cream for our last day.  We will pick food from the garden, and I will shop for items from our local farmers market for in-season and local produce. We will also combine some international foods to make this a well-rounded experience.

Instruction:

  • Vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, probiotics, etc What are these and why do we need these?
  • Protein, carbs, fiber, how to get these, what are the best sources and why these are important for growing bodies and minds.
  • Emotions, hormones, mental fatigue, anxiety, how does food help with all this and what can we do to regulate our nervous system.
  • Colors of food, what does it mean, what are the sources, and what are the seasons
  • Impact of ultra processed foods on our health and the environment and why this is important for our teens to pay attention?
