About this event

A  fall favorite, we will make a beta-carotene rich soup and add some  flavor enhancing herbs and spices. We will also make a compound butter  with seasonal herbs to go with our southern style biscuits. We will be  using coriander 2 ways- as a seed in our soup and the greens (cilantro)  as a topping on the soup with a dollop of gut healthy plain yogurt. All  foods will be cooked together and we will discuss how to make your own  homemade broths. You will also learn about adding other season  ingredients to change it up.

Herbs and Spices to enhance the flavor of foods while keeping health and longevity in mind. Herbs and spices have a medicinal history for centuries prior to their  culinary use. Today we have forgotten all about the medicinal properties  and compounds in food and food pairings. In this series of Herbs and  Spices we will explore the medicinal values while also learning some new  dishes that are tasty and healthy.

Come explore some new and old favorites while learning new flavors to add to your weekly menu.

Each session we will cook 1-2 dishes using a specific herb or spice, or a combination. Spices  refer to things such as: cardamon, clove, cumin, turmeric, black  pepper, star anise, fennel seeds, and so much more. We will be using a  combination of some to create unique curry powders that are part of the  Ayurvedic way of eating. We will also explore how to use spices to  enhance the flavor or simple everyday dishes.  Each session will vary in  the spices and spice mixes we will be using.
